Enter the stately mahogany and leaded glass foyer
and be transported in time to an era of quiet and gracious living.
A time when life was slower . . . when families entertained at home . . . and downtown was a leisurely stroll past elegant neighborhood homes.

“Now there is no place else to stay in Traverse City
other than the Wellington Inn.”
-Roberta U.

Antiquities’ Wellington Inn is a 1905 neo-classical mansion located in Northern Michigan in the historic heart of Traverse City. Built by one of Traverse City’s lumber barons, this spectacular mansion has been fully restored to its original grandeur, and features period antiques throughout the nine guest rooms, dining room, library and living room.

Each morning guests are treated to a sumptuous full breakfast in the turn-of-the-century dining room. Refreshments and snacks are always available in the guest kitchen located off the 3rd floor ballroom.

If planning an extended visit to Northern Michigan, the two 2-bedroom Carriage House apartments provide guests with a home away from home, allowing a leisurely multi-day exploration of Traverse City and the surrounding region.

This unique downtown Traverse City neighborhood location is within a short walk to fine restaurants, shops, recreational trails and the spectacular beaches of Grand Traverse Bay. Gracious innkeepers will gladly help you with any arrangements required to ensure a memorable Northern Michigan stay.

The first floor of the carriage house was originally a barn used as stables for ponies the Hull family kept as well as areas for storing their carriages and glamorous new automobile. Hay and oats were stored on the second floor and were delivered through chutes to the ponies below. There were also modest living quarters provided for the stableman. Years later the second floor was divided into two apartments. As part of the renovation process, the apartments have been meticulously restored to reflect the warmth and character of an earlier time.
