Innisfaire Leeland County Traverse City, Michigan 49684

innisfaire

innisfaireThis beautiful rustic-modern bungalow-lodge was originally built in the 1940’s by Traverse City writer and historian, Larry Wakefield.  The original cedar cabin was heated by a wood fireplace, and had no indoor facilities.

Larry and Lucille Wakefield were mink farmers, as well as splendid gardeners.  We are reminded daily of their labors, enjoying the spirea, forsythia, violets, fruit trees, flowering bulbs, and ivy.  Larry was also a historical writer.  We have several of his books in each room.

There are two large decks, to enjoy the park-like setting.  One deck has a hot tub, and the other is on the beach.

The property is located on beautiful M-22 in Leelanau County, minutes from Traverse City, Suttons Bay, local wineries, several boat launches, excellent restaurants, the TART trail, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, the Cherry Festival, and the Film Festival.  Bikes and kayaks are available for rent in Traverse City and Suttons Bay.
